Yes. I definitely had shortness of breath as well as it felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. Fatigue, light sensitivity, glands hurting, shins/arms/muscle aches, insomnia, tingling in hands/feet, and poor stamina. In the US, they have shared coinfections occur 30-40% of the time. I had 3 other infections (babesia, ehrlichia, and bartonella) in addition to Lyme but I feel like the person treating you is being proactive you for babesia. That one was hard for me to beat which is why you see so many anti malarials on my list.
Staying on Mepron (malaria med) as well as malarone and eventually we added in Alinia and plaquenil helped and the shortness of breath stopped.
So sometimes these infections just take a while longer to get rid of. At least in my case and the case of many around here. My doctor works in Washington DC and I spoke to her on zoom during treatment and flew out one visit per year. I did also work with someone locally. I know my doc in DC has worked with people internationally before if you want to talk to her. Her name is Dr. Ginger Savely. Her email is
lymedc@gmail.com. She's amazing and saved my life.
I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. Lyme and coinfections are horribly misunderstood.
So I never saw the tick on me but was in a place in Washington that is a common site for ticks. I didn't know about this until after I went. When I came home, I felt bad and the doctors told me it was stress. A few years later, I took prednisone and all my symptoms intensified and I was not well at all. Prednisone suppresses the immune system and I was already unwell. I had tested using a western blot blood test and igm 23 came back positive which I thought was weird. Everyone said no, you don't have Lyme. I still wasn't convinced. I then got strep and was put on antibiotics and felt even worse. I asked to be tested again and I was positive with igm 23 and 41.
Yes like you I had echo and EKG's that were fine. However, all of the symptoms like shortness of breath and chest pain are often associated with Lyme and babesia so it's not uncommon.
