Dr. Ralph M Garruto is a Research Professor, Biomedical Anthropologist and member of the National Academies of Science. He has worked on infectious and chronic diseases in human populations during his tenure at NIH and while at Binghamton University. Dr. Garruto has over 400 refereed publications and is working on ecological, spatial and human dynamics of Lyme disease.
Dr. John Darcy is a Research Associate in the Department of Anthropology at Binghamton University and biomedical anthropologist with interests in infectious diseases and human population health. He has been working on Lyme disease since 2010 and studies patients with post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome.
Amanda Roome, MS, MA is a biomedical anthropology PhD student with interests in human population health. She has done field work in Vanuatu and in upstate New York. Amanda is currently working on human and ecological aspects of Lyme disease for her doctoral work.
Bob Giguere has spent the majority of his career dealing with clinical laboratory medicine in the esoteric fields of genetics, endocrinology, and immunology. He did his undergraduate study at Providence College and then got his molecular biology training at MIT. Since starting his laboratory career in the early 1980’s at Nichols Institute in California, he has been a director or higher level at a number of nationally recognized esoteric clinical laboratories. These include the molecular laboratory Collaborative Research Inc.and Repomedix, Inc, in greater Boston. He was COO & Senior Vice President at Boston BioMedica Clinical Laboratory during the 1990’s and for the past 10 years Director of Sales at IGeneX, Inc.
Steven Bock, M.D. has been practicing complementary and progressive medicine for over 30 years. He attended New York Medical College and received his M.D. in 1971. He was Board Certified in Family Practice in 1977 and is certified in Acupuncture. Dr. Bock is Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Rhinebeck Center. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Family Practice, a Diplomate of the American Academy of Acupuncture and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.
Dr. Bock’s medical practice merges traditional medicine with alternative and complementary medicine, combining the modalities of acupuncture, functional and nutritional medicine, homeopathy, herbal medicine and environmental medicine into an integrated medical model for optimal wellness. “Stay Young the Melatonin Way” was Dr. Bock’s first book, published in 1995 by Dutton. He has co-authored 2 books with his brother, Kenneth Bock, M.D., entitled “Natural Relief of Your Child’s Asthma”, published in 1999 by Harper Collins and their third book “The Germ Survival Guide”, along with Nancy Faass, MSW, MPH as well, published in 2003 by McGraw-Hill. Dr. Bock has written for local and national newspapers, and lectured locally and nationally. He has appeared on local and national media including the ABC news show, 20/20, and various other radio and TV programs.
Dr Richard Horowitz is a board certified internist in private practice in Hyde Park, N.Y. He is medical director of the Hudson Valley Healing Arts Center, an integrative medical center which combines both classical and complementary approaches in the treatment of Lyme Disease and other tick-borne disorders. He has treated over 12,000 Chronic Lyme disease patients in the last 28 years, with patients coming from the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand to his clinic. He is former Assistant Director of Medicine of Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and is one of the founding members and past president elect of ILADS, the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society. He is also past president of the ILADEF, the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Educational Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the education of health care professionals on tick-borne diseases.
Dr Horowitz has presented at numerous local, national, and international scientific conferences on Lyme Disease, and has published on the role of co-infections and toxins in Lyme Borreliosis. He was awarded the Humanitarian of the Year award by the Turn the Corner Foundation for his treatment of Lyme Disease, and has dedicated his life to helping those stricken with this devastating illness. His book “Why Can’t I Get Better? Solving the Mystery of Lyme and Chronic Disease” was published through St Martin’s press in November 2013, and was on the NY Times Science Best Seller list within the first month of its release. It explains his full classical and integrative approach to helping those stricken with tick borne diseases and resistant chronic illness.
